Frequently Asked Questions
WHY IS MY WAX MELT SMOKING?
Long story short - it most likely isn't.
What you can see is NOT smoke. That "smoke" you may be seeing is actually the scent vapours (and it's a sign of a good wax melt). When the wax is heated the fragrance oils begin to evaporate and the scent is released into the air.
Vapour is ALWAYS white. If you ever notice grey, black or dark coloured smoke please extinguish your tea light or unplug your warmer immediately. Then dispose your burner in a safe manner.
WHAT TEA LIGHTS SHOULD I BE USING?
We recommend using 2-4 hour UNSCENTED tea lights and burning for a MAXIUMUM of 4 hours at a time to get most from your wax melt. We also recommend that you leave your wax to fully cool & set between each use, as this will also prevent your burner from overheating.
It can be tempting to use bigger tea lights as many believe that more heat = better scent throw, when in actual fact the use of 8 hour tea lights will burn your scent off quicker, meaning that your wax melts last half as long. Using larger tea lights can also cause your burner to overheat and therefore puts them at risk of cracking. A cracked & overheated burner can be a fire hazard & can cause the wax melt to split. If use is continued it can result in your burner shattering or setting alight. No one wants that, do they!?
Using 2-4 hour tea lights ensures that you get the most out of your wax melt, whilst staying safe!
MY ITEMS WERE BROKEN IN TRANSIT?
If you believe your items have been damaged whilst in transit, please contact us via email on email@example.com with your order number, images of the damaged/affected items and any other relevant information so that we can raise a claim with Royal Mail.
WHY HAVEN'T I RECEIVED MY ORDER?
Please allow reasonable time from your dispatch email for your order to arrive. All our orders are sent with Royal Mail and the estimated delivery time is 2-5 working days. This is just an estimation and delays may occur, especially during busy periods, which are unfortunately out of our control.
WHY HAS THE COLOUR OF MY WAX SUNKEN?
This is because the colouring powders we use, known as mica, is heavier than wax. Therefore it will naturally just sink to the bottom of your burner. But simply stir your melted wax carefully with a cocktail/wooden stick & watch your wax melt shimmer again!
WHAT IS FROSTING?
Frosting is when a white crystalline layer forms on the surface of wax melts that are made using natural waxes such as soy. This is a natural occurrence/effect of vegetable waxes. It happens when the natural wax tries to return to its natural state.
Frosting is an indication that the wax melt is made using 100% natural soy wax. Please keep in mind frosting WILL NOT at all affect how the wax melt performs.
ARE WAX MELTS BETTER THAN CANDLES?
We say YES! Wax melts are so much better than candles for a number of reasons. For a £20 high-street candle, you get 1 scent and the candle is most likely to produce black soot and any other unwanted nasties in your home. For the same money you can get a minimum of 6 different snap bars from us, knowing that they're made from a natural wax with no harmful chemicals.
Nonetheless, wax melts possess qualities that give them an advantage over candles. They have a longer burn time than candles, as wax melts absorb heat slower meaning they are able to release the aromas gradually without the fragrance evaporating too quickly.
CANDLE FIRES RESULT IN AROUND 350 CASUALTIES IN THE UK EACH YEAR WITH MOST BREAKING OUT BETWEEN 9PM AND 12AM.
40% OF CANDLE FIRES RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH. THERE IS OVER 1000 HOME INSURANCE CLAIMS FOR HOUSE FIRES CAUSED BY CANDLES EACH YEAR.
